Student Housing Business has named Nelson Brothers as No. 19 in its Top 25 ranking of student housing owners, Nelson Brothers announces today.

“What an exciting past few months it’s been for us at Nelson Brothers,” said CEO Pat Nelson. “We made the Inc. 500 for the first time, have been honored among the OC 500, received the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics and now are honored to have received this prestigious recognition.”

Student Housing Business conducted its annual survey of the industry’s Top 25 Owners during the fall of 2017, the magazine said. The minimum number of beds required for a firm to make the list is up 100 beds over 2016 for approximately 5,400 beds. Nelson Brothers student housing ranked in the top 20 with 8,321 beds. Data for the survey was completed for properties owned as of October 31, 2017.

Since its 2007 inception, Aliso Viejo–based Nelson Brothers has acquired and managed over $750 million in assets through the acquisition of more than 35 student housing properties and three assisted living properties across 14 states. The family-owned firm closed on seven properties with a combined value of $217 million in 2017. In 2016, Nelson Brothers purchased seven properties, totaling $145.2 million in acquisitions.

Additionally, Nelson Brothers recently ranked No. 4 in real estate and No. 129 on the 36th annual Inc. 500 with a three-year sales growth rate of 3,111 percent.
